Roche pharmaceutical sales grow by 9%
Roche, one of Europe's largest pharmaceutical firms has reported increased sales of nine per cent in the first quarter of 2010, with its popular cancer medication being a large factor in its success.
The Swiss company said that its oncology treatment, Avastin, had helped to spearhead the impressive figures, which could be followed by a US launch of its rheumatoid arthritis therapy Actemra.
People looking for medical sales jobs could be buoyed by the positive news, which saw the firm's sales rocket in Europe and the US.
Commenting on the firm's first quarter performance, Roche's chief executive Severin Schwan said: "With sales advancing nine per cent, Roche is off to a very good start in 2010. Both divisions continued to outgrow their respective markets. We are thus fully on track for 2010."
As well as increased sales figures Roche has recently acquired Medingo Ltd, which specialises in micro pump insulin delivery systems, and will bolster the firm's medical technology capability.
