Pharmaceutical firms hiring

The pharmaceutical sales recruitment market is looking healthy despite the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.

According to healthcare recruitment group RSA, companies that put their intake on hold at the end of last year are starting to actively look for new staff again.

Darren Spevick, the group's new sales and marketing practice leader, said: "The new year has started well and although no one can predict exactly what will happen, there are grounds for optimism."

Mr Spevick went on to say pharmaceutical firms are realising that one way to beat the economic downturn is to increase effort and sales and marketing are vital achieving this.

Last week, Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said the government should focus on creating jobs immediately rather than supporting the long-term unemployed.

He added that it is especially important for people who have been out of the labour market for six months to receive assistance.
