Greater regulation for medical sales?
Sales of medical supplies to beauty salons could be hit by a call for greater regulation, it has been revealed.
Beauty salons across the country administer treatments such as Botox injections or microdermabrasion treatments on a regular basis, but have been criticised for their lack of medical training.
Head of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors, Dr Patrick Bowler, explains that there is currently "no regulation" to stop anyone from carrying out such procedures without training.
He told the BBC: "Just as I wouldn't dream of doing a bit of brain surgery, I don't think beauticians should be shoving Botox into people."
But the news could raise concerns for those in pharmaceutical sales jobs that could be banned from selling products like Botox to beauticians.
Meanwhile, trend-setting celebrities and former advocates of the drug could also have a negative impact on the use of Botox. Singer Lulu recently announced that she had stopped using it claiming that it made her face "immovable".
